Indianapolis Fair Accident

INDIANAPOLIS — The summer evening at the Indiana State Fair turned strangely cold. The wind blew hard, then harder still, tearing the fabric from the roof of the wobbling grandstand stage.

Five people were killed and 40 hospitalized in Indianapolis Saturday night after stage rigging collapsed during a storm at the Indiana State Fair.
The incident occurred as thousands of people gathered for a concert by Grammy-winning female country music duo Sugarland.
A strong wind gust hit about 8.45 p.m. CDT between the opening and main acts, which caused stage rigging and the roof to collapse and fall onto the crowd.
